PANELISTS NAMED FOR 4TH ANNUAL DESIGNER DREAM SPREE

Julie Dodson of Houston-based Dodson Interiors announces the four nationally known A-list designers that will participate in the 4th Annual Designer Dream Spreeto be held at Round Top Antiques Festival, September 29-October 2, 2019. All four designers are at the top of their industry, honored and awarded for their talents. 

Mary McDonald, Martyn Lawrence BullardSuzanne Kasler and Robert Passal, will descend on Round Top, Texas as panelists for this year’s Panel Discussion which takes place October 1 during the Designer Dream Spree’s four-day event.    

Mary McDonald is an award-winning, internationally published, Los Angeles-based interior designer who has starred in Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Decorators” & ”Property Envy” series. She is the author of the best-selling design book Interiors: The Allure of Style (Rizzoli) and her licensed products include two acclaimed fabric lines for F. Schumacher, lighting for Robert Abbey, rugs for Patterson, Flynn and Martin and furniture for Chaddock Home

Martyn Lawrence Bullard needs no introduction. With an A-list clientele that includes Kylie Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Cher, Tommy Hilfiger, Ellen Pompeo, and Eva Mendes among others, it is no surprise Martyn’s interiors have appeared in over 4000 publications worldwide. His work speaks volumes for his interiors and creative designs which extend to eponymous collections for F. Schumacher, Ann Sacks, The Rug Company, Perennials, Haviland Limoges, Christofle and Daum. Recent brand collaborations include wallpaper, outdoor fabrics, furniture, lighting and accessories. Rizzoli has published two monographs of Martyn’s work, Live, Love and Decorate and Design & Decoration which provides a glimpse into his glamorous world.

Inspired by architecture, art, fashion and travel, Suzanne Kasler designs spaces and products that are luminous, distinctive and timeless. Her designs reference the past but move towards the future with an edited and discerning eye on the present. Mixing high and low, traditional and contemporary, the new and the old, Suzanne creates signature interiors that inspire.  Her work has often been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home and Veranda. Suzanne has also produced signature lines for Ballard Designs, Hickory Chair, La Cornue, Lee Joffa and Visual Comfort.

New York and Miami based Robert Passal is well regarded for his luxurious, livable signature style and client-centered approach to design. With an unerring eye Robert balances fine art and antiques with custom contemporary pieces to create singular interiors. Robert is the recipient of the coveted Innovation in Design Award, Traditional Home’sTop 20 Designer Awards and House Beautiful’s Rising Star award. With Kim Alessi, in 2018 Robert opened Putnam & Mason, a Connecticut design destination lauded by Architectural Design for bringing “a little bit of an edge to Greenwich.”

The Designer Dream Spree was considered 2018’s Best Design Event in Texas by Modern Luxury’s Texas Interiors and is known for attracting top-named designers to this out-of-the-way location. The Panel Discussion, the subject of which is “Exceptional Discoveries,” takes place October 1 at 4:00 pm at The Compound, 2550 South State Highway 237, Round Top, Texas. It will be followed by an open forum where the audience is invited to present questions from the floor to each of the designers. Open to the public for a nominal charge of $35–all proceeds benefit local area animal shelters.

Julie Dodson of Houston-based Dodson Interiors, announced today that TRADITIONAL HOME magazine has agreed to be National Media Sponsor for the 4th Annual Designer Dream Spree to be held at Round Top, Texas September 29-October 2. 

This is the second year that Traditional Home has supported the Designer Dream Spree. Krissa Rossbund, Senior Style Editor of Traditional Home (pictured) will moderate the Panel Discussion on which sits A-listers Mary McDonaldMartyn Lawrence Bullard, Suzanne Kasler and Robert Passal. The Panel Discussion takes place October 1 at 4:00 pm and is open to the public. Proceeds from the Panel Discussion will benefit local animal shelters and Dwell With Dignity. 

 

Meet Krissa Rossbund

Traditional Home magazine’s Krissa Rossbund needs no introduction. Krissa began her career at Traditional Home where she has evolved from staff intern to Senior Style Editor. A lifestyle and trend expert who reports on today’s modern homeowners, Krissa who considers herself part Texan, is also one of the industry’s leading experts on entertaining, and frequently speaks to crowds about the resurgence of hosting gatherings at-home. She helps her audiences develop rituals that will create lifetime memories for families and friends. 

The four-day event attracts designers from all over Texas and beyond to see industry icons discuss their favorite finds at Round Top. Tickets for the Panel Discussion, which takes place at The Compound, Round Top, go on sale at the beginning of August and always sell out fast.


Designer Dream Spree Farmhouse Showcase

THE DESIGNER DREAM SPREE FARMHOUSE SHOWCASE

benefitting local animal shelters and Dwell with Dignity

Designer Dream Spree, founded by Julie Dodson of Dodson Interiors, in partnership with Newberry Architects, is completely renovating a 1940s post-depression country farmhouse at Round Top, Texas to raise funds for local area animal shelters and Dwell With Dignity.  The reveal will launch at The Compound with a VIP tour that precedes a gala dinner on Friday, September 20, 2019. Tours of the Farmhouse Showcase will begin September 21 and continue through October 5, 2019 during the Round Top Fall Antiques Fair.   

It is believed the farmhouse housed multiple families at a time when America was just coming out of the Great Depression. But in the fall of 2019, the 1800 square feet home will be transformed into a beautifully landscaped, three-bedroom, two-bathroom country home with the addition of an 8’ x 40’ porch. 

Partnering with Newberry Architects, Julie Dodson will collaborate on interior finishes and surface materials. Interior design will be undertaken by celebrity designers Carson Kressley and Thom Filicia of BRAVO TV’s Get a Room.

MARY MCDONALD is an award winning, internationally published Los Angeles-based interior designer working on projects throughout the United States. She is the author of "Interiors: The Allure of Style" from Rizzoli publishing and has starred in Bravo TV’s “Million Dollar Decorators” & "Property Envy" series.

Martyn has been consistently named as one of the world’s top 100 interior designers by Architectural Digest, featured permanently in Elle Decor’s A-List, and named one of the top 25 designers by The Hollywood Reporter. A popular television personality, Martyn starred in the hit Bravo series, Million Dollar Decorators and hosted Channel 4’s Hollywood Me in the UK, along with a multitude of design television programs spanning over 65 countries.

SUZANNE KASLER  Inspired by architecture, art, fashion and travel, Suzanne Kasler designs spaces and products that are luminous, distinctive and timeless. Suzanne’s designs always reference the past but move towards the future with an edited and discerning eye on the present. Mixing the high and the low, traditional and contemporary, the new and the old — creating signature interiors and products that convey a sophisticated simplicity.  Her designs inspire everyone to live a more beautiful, stylish, and authenticlife.

Suzanne’s work has been work has been published in major design magazines, including Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home and Veranda. She has been named to Architectural Digest’s AD100 and Elle Décor’s A-List. Her award-winning interiors have been captured in three books with Rizzoli, Inspired InteriorsTimeless Style, and her most recent title, Sophisticated Simplicity.

In addition to designing timeless interiors for her clients, Suzanne has produced signature lines for Ballard Designs, Hickory Chair, La Cornue, Lee Jofa, and Visual Comfort.


PANELIST: Robert Passal

ROBERT PASSAL is well-regarded for his luxurious, livable signature style and client-centered approach to design. His interest in people and how they desire to live in their home translates into a personal process of working with clientele. Robert brings out the best in his collaborators — from Fortune 500 CEOs to musicians, fashion magnates and professional athletes.

Renowned for his unerring eye, Robert balances fine art and antiques with custom contemporary pieces to create singular interiors. Each project reflects its owner’s individuality, yet the edited tailoring of a classic, informed, and memorable designer is ever-present.

From residential to retail and commercial projects, interiors take a luxe view of modern life. Homes vary from a classic Fifth Avenue apartment to a Tokyo pied-à-terre to a 20,000 square foot compound in Houston. Commercial projects are equally diverse, ranging from a modern restaurant for NYC’s prestigious Core Club to an upscale fitness center in Greenwich, Connecticut and a Pediatric Medical Center in NY. Recent retail work includes a menswear boutique for Christopher Korey in NYC and a luxury women’s boutique in Boca Raton.
